April Lockhart

April Lockhart was born on July 4, 1995. The seventh grade was when she began playing guitar and piano lessons, sparking her interest in songwriting. When she was 12 years old, April composed her first single Different. At 14, April spent much time writing her lyrics, and perfecting her musicianship skills. Later on she began taking writing trips together with her dad on trips to LA and NY. April also began to include different topics related to some of her peers who are dealing in the area of bullying by peers and teenage suicide as depicted in the song"Take" my Hand. Lockhart is a beauty and lifestyle influencer that has an ever-growing following. She works with popular brand Ilia with whom she has a partnership as well as being a specialist in lifestyle. Her disability is a part of her personality, but it's not all of the of the picture. Because of this, her Instagram profile isn't afraid to talk about the fact that she is disabled, but she doesn't focus on the issue either. What message does it convey? The message is of identities and that we're much greater than the physical person we are. Lockhart said via video that she does not want to be defined by her disability. She doesn't want to become an advocate for disabled people who only talks about that. There are many different aspects to Lockhart. My day-today life is not impaired by the disability. I just live my normal, everyday life and find the solutions I have for my problems. But it's also a part of me, so I believe it's important to talk about. Self-acceptance runs for life but Lockhart is an absolute inspiration for this aspect. Lockhart admits that she goes through phases when it comes to her body, feeling uncomfortable in certain clothing which exposed her arms. Nowadays, she can wear whatever she's interested in. and she shares pictures on social media. She claims that self-love is a process. It's hard to say if you'll ever make it to the finish line. It's a trip, but I'm sure that you never make it to the end. It's important to have people around you who are aware of and appreciate you. They will be able to remind you of what you are worried about.
